The Changes That Changed My Life

Todd Haynes on losing weight, rebuilding his health, and why he now coaches around real life.

I did not get into training because health had always come easily to me. I got into it after letting life get the best of me. I was too busy in other aspects of life, and my own health went down the drain. I know what it feels like to look up and realize you have stopped taking care of yourself.

My turning point was not one perfect workout. It was deciding that being busy could not keep making every decision for me. I made changes to my lifestyle, stayed with them, and watched those choices change my life. My own 90-day journey gave me proof that consistent work can become visible change.

That experience is why I do not coach from a distance. I want my clients to look at me as a friend and not a coach. I am here to motivate, hold you accountable, and help you become the best you. The training still has standards, but the relationship matters. You should know the person guiding you is in your corner.

I also understand that people need different things from me. Some need a direct push. Some need help finding a realistic starting point. Some know how to work hard but need a plan that finally matches their goal. I coach however my clients need me to coach and what is specific to their goals.

My approach is not built around making life smaller so fitness can take over. It is built around finding what you can do consistently, then making that work count. We can adjust exercises, training days, session length, and nutrition structure. The goal stays serious even when the plan is flexible.

There will be weeks when motivation is low. That is normal. Accountability matters most then. I refuse to let my clients give up on themselves, because a hard week does not erase the work already done. We reset the next choice and keep moving.

I started Kingpins Fitness because I am ready to help other people make the kind of changes that changed my life. I do not promise an instant transformation or somebody else’s result. I promise to meet you where you are, coach the person in front of me, and keep your goal in view.

The biggest lesson from my own change was that I did not have to become a different person before I could begin. I had to make better decisions often enough for them to become part of my life. That is patient work, but it is powerful because nobody can take the learning away from you.
